To begin the cataloging process.
That’s five out of the 20 or so that are still in my deceased father in law’s basement, PLUS the cabinet full that I started boxing up as well. We got a LONG way to go, and thankfully a long time to get there.
Also grabbed most of the die casts he had. Nothing high value or interesting (although I do like the American Graffiti ‘58 Impala’s details), but I do find it funny he had every iteration of a ‘57 Chevy except the sedan. Not that anyone would make a diecast of the sedan anyways.
Also found this, which might come in handy after un-earthing my wife’s old NES system:
Not sure why one would need it, when BLOWING in the thing seemed to solve 99.9% of all issues back in the day anyways.
I’m gonna have one HELL of a rummage sale in the spring....

I used to have one of those cleaning things for the NES. It worked when blowing into the NES wouldn’t. So it does come in handy, somewhat.

I’ll probably need to use it. The NES and a dozen games was sitting in a milk crate under a pile of dirty clothes in the basement near a toilet leak with a smoker for the past 15+ years.
I’m hoping it will fire right up so I can play Duck Hunt though. The Light Gun is in really nice clean shape.

as a Ex mazda protege5 (2003-2010) owner, I can not let a rust / mazda comment go unsaid.
My protege5 even had rust showing up(in less than a year )under the dealer rust proofing i got done when bought new.

If only the previous owner wasn’t such a numpty, he could have had the rust fixed under WARRANTY.
Car had 94k on it, but was just under a year past the 10 year / 100k rust warranty.

All I found when my father in law passed, was boxes and boxes of VHS porn, about 20 old vinyl records, a bunch of tools, and a Subaru Justy. I guess the tools are useful.

Yes yes, many tools as well. He was a machinist. HIS father in law (whom he lived with) used to assemble boat motors at Mercury Marine, and when he retired started a rubber stamp company out of the home. Converted the garage into a shop.
There are SO MANY tools and machines at that house.
And albums.
And CDs.
And cassettes.
And DVDs.
And VHS tapes.

Yea this guy was the friendly neighborhood handy man and HAM operator. A way generous guy, so he didn’t have much, lived a simple life. We gave most of the HAM Radio stuff to his best friend. There was some great old tools though, the kind of stuff they don’t make anymore, and some other random electronics gear that I have no idea how to use, like logic probes and that kind of stuff. But the best tools you can get really are the hand-me-downs that have already lasted decades.
Anyways, sorry for your (and more importantly for your wife’s) loss. I don’t mean to make light of the situation or claim that it’s all about the free stuff.

Keep in mind though that for Duck Hunt, you’ll need a CRT TV. It will not work on a flat panel. Something with how the photo diode in the gun reads the screen..

Thanks. Its no big deal, it is what it is. The stuff we sell is going to help pay off debts and things, and put away what we can for the grandkids since that’s how he’d want it.

Thankfully he left one of those behind as well ;)

That won’t fix Mazdas rust problems.
I got mine repainted 3 times(not complete resprays)under warranty.
I gave up on Mazda after that, sucks since they where fun to drive.
